CX-230 Magnetic Particle Test Piece QQI ASTM E1444 Low-Carbon Steel

The CX-230 is typically manufactured from AISI 1005 low-carbon steel with a standard thickness of 0.002 inches (approximately 0.05 mm). The test pieces feature specific photolithography-engraved patterns such as concentric circles or crosses. Common size is 3/4 square inches, with smaller sizes available upon request.

Before use, remove the corrosion-resistant protective film from the QQI. Position the artificial defect surface against the part surface, securing it either by covering the edges with transparent tape or using permanent adhesives like cyanoacrylate. Ensure complete contact with no gaps or loose areas, and no adhesive residue on the inspection surface.

After magnetizing the parts and applying magnetic powder, adhesion to the etching pattern confirms adequate magnetic field intensity and proper direction.
